ALAMO CHAPTER HARLEY OWNERS GROUP

About Our History

Since our chapter's beginning in 1987 when our first officers, Chester Jones (Director), George Lieck (Assistant Director), and Diane Waller (Secretary/Treasurer) acquired our chapter charter as the "Alamo Chapter" of the Harley Owners Group, we have grown from a small group of friends to over 400 members.

Our group appreciates more than just camaraderie, good food, and great riding. We share a genuine concern with the general motorcycling community for bikers' rights, with our active support of groups like the American Motorcycle Association, the Texas Motorcycle Riders Association, and American Bikers Associated Through Education.

From our early years we have taken a vigorous approach to our civic responsibilities by helping charities like the MDA, AT Children's Project, Blue Santa, Adopt a Highway Trash Pick Up, and our kids at The Eagles Nest and the St. Jude's Children's Home (homes for abused, abandoned, and neglected children ).

Our chapter of Harley enthusiasts has celebrated weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and divorces, as well as welcomed new members and new babies. We have also prayed for our ailing and mourned the deaths of some of our beloved, fellow HOG members. We are family.

Like most HOG chapters, our members come from all walks of life ... CPAs, doctors, lawyers, teachers, politicians, craftsmen, tradesmen, drivers, business owners, homemakers, active duty military, and students, to name just a few. Together, we have laughed, gambled, teased, danced, camped, partied, and (at times) even argued. Because we share a common passion for the sound and the feel of that big twin power at our command, our friendships prevail overall.

We look forward to safe riding, serving our community, and fellowship with our Harley friends. We really do "live to ride and ride to live."
