History
Since our chapter's beginning in 1987 when our first officers, Chester Jones (Director), George Lieck (Assistant Director), and Diane Waller (Secretary/Treasurer) acquired our chapter charter as the "Alamo Chapter" of the Harley Owners Group, we have grown from a small group of friends to over 200 members.
Like most H.O.G. chapters, our members come from all walks of life ... CPAs, doctors, lawyers, teachers, politicians, craftsmen, tradesmen, drivers, business owners, homemakers, active duty military, and students, to name just a few. Together, we have laughed, gambled, teased, danced, camped, partied, and (at times) even argued. Because we share a common passion for the sound and the feel of that big twin power at our command, our friendships prevail overall.
As A Group
We are a group of Harley Davidson owners in the northern areas of San Antonio, Texas (including New Braunfels, Cibolo, Schertz and other surrounding areas) who enjoy riding and having fun. We hold monthly meetings at the VFW Lodge on Austin Highway (map) on the second Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Visitors are welcome.
We have organized rides and social events throughout the year. If you enjoy riding your Harley and great friendship, come and check us out. If you are a national Harley Owners Group member and are interested in joining our local chapter, email the Membership Officer, Vickie Perez or check out our Membership page for more information.
Events
Monthly Meetings: The second Saturday of each month we hold the chapter meeting. At the meeting, we talk about upcoming activities, events and rides. Each of the officers also gives the group an update on their work for the chapter, as well as safety briefings. We hold a 50/50 raffle to benefit the club, along with door prizes. Visitors are welcome to attend!
Dinner Rides: At least once a month, we will meet at a designated location to ride together to a restaurant for dinner. This gives you the opportunity to get some riding time in with the chapter as well as get to know the other members. These rides have Lead and Sweep Road Captains.
Birthday Bash: Once a month, the chapter meets at a local country bar to celebrate the members whose birthdays were in that month. Because you are a member of the chapter, there is no cover charge and a free buffet dinner is served.
Ladies of Harley Events: The Ladies of Harley are a very busy group of women. They met once a month for spa night, a wine tasting and Bunco. The LOH officer also plans a ride once a month for the chapter. These rides have been to restaurants, mystery destinations and Enchanted Rock State Park. LOH also provides wrapping services at Alamo City H-D on holidays.
Quarterly Overnight Rides: Once a quarter, the chapter plans an event to a destination that requires an overnight. Sometimes it will be one overnight or it may be several nights away. Big Bend is an annual trip with four overnights. Other destinations being considered this year are Lake Charles, Las Vegas and Arkansas.
